Soul Stuff

I've been mulling over what this blog site was going to be about. I have NOURISH : : MIND, which is just about whatever is on my mind. I have NOURISH : : BODY, which is where I write about food, health and the things that are healing. But this, NOURISH : : SOUL...what is this about? I think I know. Well, I think I'm ready. I've known for some time. It just wasn't time to share it yet. I'm still not sure it is, but who's really reading this anyway? :)
Matt and I have believed for some time now that a major part of serving God is to be as much like Christ as we can. Our God came to earth in human form, walking among us, teaching us and showing us how to live. He is the standard. We are nowhere near that standard. But, slowly He has place on our hearts orphan ministry. We've actually talked about it since we were dating! But, we are stepping out of the boat and finally doing something. You can read here and here for more info on what we're doing and how you can get involved if you feel so led.
So, this is it...our journey in orphan care. We feel this is a road that we must take. It's one that is without a doubt gut-wrenching, emotional, and yet so necessary...so healing...so important. We aren't just sending a check (though that is part of it and is very important) but we are going to be actively involved in a child's life. We have responded to the people in charge that we are willing and interested in adopting a child from this orphanage that we are sponsoring. This is it...there is no turning back. God has spoken. We are listening.
